I needed to go back to the “sound itself”, to feel the viridity of “newborn music”.
So, this is “Protoplasm”.
I wanted to run through straight from a zero-altitude point to the stars…

生まれたばかりの音楽の瑞々しさを感じとるために。一度、音そのものへ、素材そのものへ立ち戻ることが必要でした。それが、”Protoplasm”（原形質）の意味です。まったくの海抜ゼロメートル地帯から、一気に星々の世界にまで伸びていく軌跡を描きたかったのです。

In “Protoplasm”, Kyo Ichinose weaves eleven sublime tracks like an intricate tapestry. Soft and fluid but not the point of overbearingly ambient while perfectly unintrusive to the listener’s thoughts. The surprising transitions of textures and emotions between each track, with occasional embellishments of mysterious sounding instruments and hazy sound motifs almost reminiscent of a distant memory… make this album is one of my favourites for the year.

アコースティックピアノのピュアトーンは時として、人の感性を研ぎすませてくれる。エレクトロニカというジャンルに不用意に放り込んでしまうにはちょっと惜しい、”ACOUSTICA” なセンスの持ち主である一ノ瀬響による、栃木県益子市にあるギャラリーとのコラボレーション作品集『Protoplasm』。水滴のようなピアノのシングル・トーンを軸にしながら、シンセや笙、ケージのピアノ小品を思わせるようなガムラン風のサウンドなどが次々に流れていく。それはまるで、風景の中に見える太陽光のプリズムを音にしているような味わいがあり、”ライフ・アンビエンス”という新ジャンルを作りたくなるほどだ。
